There has been a lot of discussion in the comments for Women in Art – Illustrations, Part 1. As a rule, both male and female artists tend to depict women and girls as sexually attractive. I was curious to see how men tended to be portrayed in similar artwork. Frankly speaking I expected to see muscled hot bodies, heroes, bantams, and characters that depict man’s strength, will, bravery, etc. But that wasn’t the case! First, there seemed to be 20 times fewer illustrations of men versus women. Second, no one seems to illustrate men simply as men. The collection below shows different approaches to how men are featured in artistic illustrations, but you’ll see what I mean. Enjoy and share your thoughts with us!
