Maybe you have a high school reunion coming up. Or maybe you’re trying to get your body ready for the summer. Whatever your reason, the goal is the same: To lose weight quickly and safely.
Now, the internet is full of crash diet ideas, miracle weight loss pills, and other strategies for rapid weight loss, but few of them actually work. And worse yet, some of these are actually dangerous.
That’s why I’ve come up with a list of effective, safe methods for losing weight fast. Of course, before you begin any diet or exercise regimen, it’s best to consult with your physician to make sure you’re up to the task.
Try the Master Cleanse—Let me make one thing clear: Master Cleanse is not for the weak. This lemonade-based, crash diet will put your willpower to the test. For success, you have to do the Master Cleanse diet for a minimum of 10 days. That means 10 days of drinking this special lemonade concoction and eating nothing else.
The Master Cleanse is basically a detoxification program. It flushes harmful toxins out of your body, and at the end of the program, you could easily find yourself 10, 15, even 20 pounds lighter.
Always consult with a physician before you begin your Master Cleanse program.
Stay hydrated—Did you know that water can actually help you burn fat? It’s true. See, when your body is properly hydrated, protein synthesis works more effectively. This is the muscle-building function of your body, so in other words, water allows you to build more muscle.
Additionally, staying hydrated ensures you never confuse thirst for hunger…a mistake that’s more common than you might realize. This prevents you from overeating, keeping your daily caloric intake down.
Hit the gym—To help you reach your target caloric deficit, you should add exercising to your diet plan. Exercising for 30 minutes to an hour each day can help you burn hundreds of calories, letting you lose even more weight. A sound exercise regimen will let you lose 1-3 pounds more each week with your diet.
As far as which exercises you should do, it’s best to mix it up. You certainly need to get your cardio in (running, bike riding, etc.), but don’t overlook the importance of pumping some iron as well. This will help you replace that burned fat with lean muscle.
Don’t skip meals—One of the biggest mistakes new dieters make is to think skipping meals will help them lose more weight. Actually, the opposite is true. See, your body needs you to eat so it can have the energy to burn more calories and shed more fat.
So, instead of skipping meals, just make sure you’re counting calories when you eat so that you have a good caloric deficit at the end of the day. Never starve yourself. It won’t work, and it’s not a lifestyle you can keep up to keep that weight off.
Avoid diet pills—Don’t be lured by diet pills that make promises that sound too good to be true (e.g. Lose 20 Pounds in 7 Days!). If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. The problem with diet pills is most of them just don’t work, and some of them are even very dangerous. Simply put, the risks usually don’t outweigh the rewards.
Instead of throwing your money away on fad diet pills, just follow the rest of the tips in this list. This ensures your weight loss will be healthier, and it will create lifestyle habits that will help you to keep that weight off once you lose it.
